We appreciate our donors!  Your support of the Education Foundation programs and events make it possible for us to provide innovating programs in Weatherford ISD classrooms.  We’re also able to help our students in need thru our School Supply Program and assist teachers with Continuing Education Scholarships. 

Donations to our 2011-2012 Annual Drive may be made thru March 31. The proceeds from the Annual Drive are used to determine the amount we can award to our teachers for innovative grant applications at the end of May. Annual Drive Donation Card

Vote Online in the American State Bank Giving Back Competition
The Education Foundation is one of several non-profit organizations in the running for up to $5,000 in the American State Bank Giving Back competition.  Cast your vote for the Weatherford ISD Education Foundation daily online at www.asbonline.com/givingback .  You may also vote in person at the bank location at 1300 Santa Fe Drive.  Votes placed at the bank count 3 times!  Voting ends at midnight on Thursday, November 10, 2011. 

Whataburger Night Fundraiser
Dine in or drive thru the Whataburger located at 110 E. I-20
Tuesday, November 15 from 4-8 p.m.
Whataburger is generously donating 20% of their sales to the WISD Education Foundation that evening!  This offer is good only at the Whataburger location that’s next to the shopping village that includes Kohl’s, Best Buy, Target, and Lowe’s.

Our thanks to the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa for running a contest for public schools this week.  The WISD Education Foundation came in second and will receive a complimentary 2 night stay with a round of 4 for golf!  Our thanks also go to everyone who posted for the WISD Education Foundation from all over the United States.  It was pretty amazing to see us united in support of our school district. 

We’ll be auctioning the Hyatt package at our Gold Star Gala on Saturday, October 8th at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel.  Tickets are $125 each or you may reserve a table for 10 for $1,250.  The event features magic by Shimshi, a live and silent auction, and dancing.

There’s a very easy way for you to support the Weatherford ISD Education Foundation.

The Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa is donating a 2 night stay with a round of 4 for golf to a school district to use in a silent auction.  That’s the perfect item for our upcoming silent auction at our annual Gold Star Gala and we need your help to win this package.  Here’s what you do:

School Supply Drive Saturday!

The Education Foundation and the Jerry Durant Auto Group are teaming up to host a school supply drive for Weatherford ISD students.  The drive will take place on Saturday, August 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jerry’s GMC.  The event features free hotdogs and soft drinks courtesy of Wallace Insurance and a live remote broadcast by QXFM 89.5 with Dave Cowley and Don Allen. 

The Foundation’s School Supply Closet has been open since 2003 and now serves over 1,000 students each year.  Parents needing supplies for their children should contact their campus principal, counselor, or teacher.    Requests are handled anonymously and supplies are available throughout the school year. 

“Up to 800 students begin the school year with brand new school supplies because of the Education Foundation’s program.  This year, we expect an increase in the number of requests for supplies due to the economy.  We’re very grateful to Jerry’s for hosting our school supply drives and for their continued support of this program,” stated Charlotte LaGrone, Director of Community Relations and the Education Foundation for Weatherford ISD. 

If you would like to contribute school supplies you may bring them to Jerry’s GMC on August 13 or to the Weatherford ISD District Services Building located at 1100 Longhorn Drive.

$77,910 Awarded to WISD Teachers!

Education Foundation Board members announced the grants for the 2011-2012 school year at the WISD Staff Recognition Assembly held on May 26.  Over $77,000 was awarded to 97 teachers for 20 new grant programs. 

This is the 10th year of grant awards to WISD teachers.  To apply for a grant, teachers must complete an application that is reviewed by a committee of Foundation Board members and WISD teachers, principals, and administrators.  Grants that are selected bring innovation to the classroom and enrich the education of our students.

In total, the Education Foundation has awarded over $703,000 to WISD teachers in ten years!
